This session will consist of a comprehensive review of the process by which immigrants can become citizens by filing an N-400 Application for Naturalization. Although this is nominally an immigration topic, the session should be of most interest to attorneys who regularly interact with noncitizen clients as part of their practice, but who do not specialize in immigration law. Attendees will leave the session with a better understanding of the obstacles that individuals, including US military veterans, in low-income households face in seeking to become citizens and how such obstacles frequently overlap with other areas of poverty law.
